Viking reports 70% capacity sold for 2025

Viking has grown its third quarter revenue by 11.4%  year on year to $171.9 million.

In its latest earnings, the river, ocean and expedition cruise company revealed it had sold 95% of its capacity for its core products in the 2024 season and 70% for the 2025 season by November 3, 2024.

Advance bookings for the 2024 season were 14% higher than 2023, and 2025 advance bookings are 26% higher than 2024 at the same point in time.

This worked out at $4.63 billion in advance bookings for the 2024 season and $4.33 billion for the 2025 season.

Its adjusted Ebitda, a measure of a company’s profit, also increased by 15.3% compared to the same period in 2023.

During the quarter Viking took delivery of Nile river ship Viking Sobek, and exercised its options for two new ships scheduled for delivery in 2030.

It also entered into agreements for four additional ocean ships, with two due for delivery in 2031 and the other two in 2032.

One ocean ship is expected to be delivered later this year.

Viking chairman and chief executive Torstein Hagen said: “The strength of our one Viking brand and our loyal guests are two key factors that drove our impressive third quarter financial results, positioning us for what looks to be a strong 2024.

“With our capacity sold for 2024, our sales and marketing focus has shifted to the upcoming 2025 season and beyond.

“As we continue to expand our fleet in the coming months and years, we are capitalising on our own ability to generate demand fuelled by our distinctive and well-defined product, strong brand recognition, effective cross-selling practices, and a singular sales and marketing approach.”
