Virgin Voyages recruits chief growth officer

Virgin Voyages has recruited former Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) international marketing chief Isis Ruiz following a management team reshuffle at the line.

Ruiz (pictured) joins Virgin Voyages as chief growth officer and will report into chief experience officer Nirmal Saverimuttu, who took over as president from Tom McAlpin in January.

Saverimuttu reports into former president McAlpin, who is now chief executive at the line.

Ruiz’s most recent role was chief commercial officer at American Queen Voyages.

Virgin Voyages said Ruiz will be tasked with building growth and “taking the brand to the next level” as it prepares to welcome Resilient Lady and Brilliant Lady into its fleet.

Ruiz, who spent more than 11 years at NCLH, will also oversee growth strategy, performance and analytics, paid media, travel agent portal, loyalty programme, and ecommerce at the line.

Saverimuttu said: “Having someone of Isis’s calibre join us on this journey is thrilling as she brings an incredible depth of experience with her that will help us evolve to the next phase of our growth plans.

“Isis is a perfect fit for our business and culture and we are looking forward to her helping us achieve our ambitious goals.”

“Having admired the Virgin Voyages brand for a long time, I couldn’t be more delighted to be joining the business at this pivotal time,” said Ruiz. “I am energised by their commitment to delivering irresistible vacations for their sailors [passengers] and creating a culture that enables crew to deliver epic experiences. Best of all we are just getting started.”
