Reuben’s Retreat has been shortlisted for the Jet2.com and Jet2holidays Colleagues’ Chosen Charity Vote.
The charity – which supports children with complex illnesses – said on Facebook: “Reuben was born into a family that had dedicated their careers to the travel industry and Reuben was a very well-travelled 23-month-old.
“In fact, his now iconic swim picture featured below was taken on a Jet2 holiday to Turkey.”
Reuben died in 2012 from an aggressive brain tumour and his mother, Nicola Graham, left her job at Red Sea Holidays to establish the retreat in his memory, along with husband Mike, who also worked in travel.
The statement from the charity added: “Our cause has always had a wonderful synergy with travel.
“We gift the opportunity to make memories, allowing families to come together, reconnect and create moments to treasure and so do all those within the travel industry so we are incredibly grateful to be shortlisted by an amazing organisation that works so hard to provide great memories too.
“To be in the running with so many amazing causes is just wonderful and as we all know, our individual life stories may lead some to cast their vote for another charity but we are really grateful to those who may take the time to learn more about our beautiful work and very special cause. Wish us luck.”
Staff from the airline and tour operator are able to vote from a shortlist of nine charities for their chosen organisation to support.
The other shortlisted causes are: Mind UK, Macmillan, Marie Curie, Martin House Hospice, Alzheimer’s Society, British Heart Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis Trust and MS Society.
