100 agents offer desk space to on the road reps

As many as 100 travel agents throughout England, Scotland and Wales have agreed to offer desk space for tour operator on the road reps.

They are supporting the ‘desks for reps’ initiative created by independent agents’ group Target to provide a spare desk for supplier staff to catch up with emails, messages and calls during the day.

The group’s initial plea to members a month ago had immediately drawn responses from around ten agents who had space in their shops for operator staff to use when out on the road.

Target co-founder Jill Waite said: “Most reps and BDM’s calling at our shops have told us how hard it is to return calls, reply to emails and messages while they are on the road. We hope this initiative will help them.”

Fellow co-founder Graeme Brett said: “The response from agents has been amazing and really supportive.

“So far we have 100 travel agents involved and we hope that a few more will get involved in the new year.

“As we all adapt to new ways of working, it is wonderful that so many agents have agreed to assist their colleagues on the road in this way.”
