Roberto Balasco has been named as Abta’s new head of membership to succeed Danny Waine.
Balasco will move from his current role as head of sales at Kenwood Travel in the new year.
He has previously worked within a number of other Abta member businesses including Celebrity Cruises, Kuoni and Thomas Cook.
Balasco takes up the position on January 13, working with and supporting Abta members.
He takes over the role from Waine, who is leaving the association in December to pursue personal ambitions.
The travel association’s financial protection and membership director Rachel Jordan said: “With almost 30 years’ experience in travel, we’re really excited for Roberto to join our team.
“He has a passion for the travel industry, deep experience in the sector, and a real understanding of the benefits of being an Abta member.
“This, along with his strategic experience and his commitment to delivering a premium service for businesses, makes Roberto well-placed to take over the head of membership role and provide exceptional support to our members.”
Balasco added: “I am really looking forward to this wonderful opportunity, joining Abta as head of membership.
“I look forward to meeting our members at events, supporting them and seeing how we can further engage with Abta members through new strategic ideas.”
