Advantage Travel Partnership hails success of AMS conference

The Advantage Travel Partnership has hailed the success of its annual Advantage Managed Services conference, which took place in Fuerteventura last week.

The event celebrated the 15th anniversary of the consortium’s AMS model as it brought together more than 50 delegates at the Tui Magic Life Fuerteventura resort, located on the second-largest of the Canary Islands.

Hosted by Tui and supported by Classic Collection, Fred Olsen and Vertical Systems, the conference featured a range of business sessions led by Advantage’s leadership team.

The sessions focused on AMS business and technology strategies, while external consultant Helen Roberts conducted a workshop on developing high-performance teams and the importance of establishing a business mission and vision.

The agenda also included a panel discussion on growth opportunities through footprint expansion, homeworking and diversification into other travel-related sectors.

Delegates also had the chance to participate in speed dating sessions with sponsors and Advantage’s internal teams.

Paul Nunn, chief operating officer, said: “The conference provided numerous opportunities to learn, engage, and share our future plans with members.

“AMS continues to be our fastest-growing model, and it was great to have the opportunity to celebrate 15 years of AMS with members.”

The conference included a half-day excursion exploring the island and featured a ‘Travel is a Force for Good’ initiative, where delegates donated stationery to the local CEIP EI Ciervo Primary School. Francisco Antonio Garcia Perez, deputy head teacher, received the items on behalf of the school.

Kelly Cookes, chief commercial officer, said: “It was heartwarming to see our delegates enthusiastically bringing much-needed learning support materials to Fuerteventura for this school.

“The teachers and staff there were so appreciative.”

Karl Douglass, co-owner of Beverly Travel and an Advantage member operating under the AMS model, who attended the conference, said: “Our whole business is based on building relationships with our customers so that they trust us again and again.

“Being part of AMS allows us to focus on doing that, and it is vitally important we have strong relationships with the AMS team and our supplier partners.

“Being able to get together and experience new destinations, like we have at this conference, is the perfect way to achieve that.”
