A husband-and-wife travel agent couple bagged themselves two free return flights to a destination of their choice by getting a specific tattoo at the annual Jet2 conference.
Travel agent relationships director Alan Cross set a challenge for delegates at the start of the three-day event, telling them that the first person to get either a ‘I love Alan’ or ‘I love Steve’ (chief executive Steve Heapy) tattoo from the on-site tattoo artist Liam Patchett would earn the prize of complimentary Jet2 return flights.
Rising to the challenge, Ian McGarrigle of McGarrigle Travel visited Patchett, who was offering free tattoos to delegates throughout the conference on an appointment basis, on the second day. He got ‘I love Alan’ permanently inked on his right thigh, earning free flights for him and his partner Samantha.
Ian said: “When Alan said he would give two free flights to whoever got ‘I love Alan’ tattooed I thought, ‘I’m doing that.’ We’re always up for a laugh and we love Jet2.
“It wasn’t that painful and took about 10 minutes. I think people at the conference will find it funny when they find out someone actually did it.”
Samantha, meanwhile, got the Jet2holidays logo tattooed on her right arm.
“I’ve always wanted to get a Jet2 tattoo and when I heard before the conference that there was going to be a tattoo artist here, I knew it was fate,” she said.
“I used to work for Jet2 so I’ve got a soft spot for them. I definitely can’t go and work for Tui or easyJet now!”
Earlier in the day, before getting their Jet2-themed tattoos, the couple won a three-night stay at Iberostar for winning a quiz, and plan to use their free flights to get there and back.
“A three-night Iberostar stay and now free flights – it hasn’t been a bad day,” said Ian.
