Arrest made after British travel agent deaths in Sweden

An arrest has been made after two British travel agents were found dead in a burnt-out car in Malmö.

Swedish authorities are holding the person on suspicion of aiding and abetting murder, the BBC has reported.

Farooq Abdulrazak, 37, and Juan Cifuentes, 33, who co-owned Empire Holidays in Muswell Hill, north London, were reported missing after they failed to return home from a business trip.

Their remains were found in the shell of a Toyota Rav 4 on July 14, with formal identification of the bodies confirmed on August 14.

The Swedish Prosecution Authority said the investigation into the men’s deaths was ongoing in both Sweden and the UK.

Swedish police previously said Abdulrazak and Cifuentes had both been shot before their hire car was set on fire.

Magnus Pettersson, who is leading the preliminary investigation in Sweden, said prosecutors had until September 1 to decide whether or not the suspect could remain in custody.
