Members of the Association of Women Travel Executives have raised more than £500 on an inaugural wellness walk on the Dorset coast.
The money will go to Papyrus, the UK charity for the prevention of young suicide, which is the association’s chosen charity in 2022.
The walk took place from popular beauty spot Durdle Door and was joined my members of the AWTE board.
The wellness walk is the association’s first event of 2022 focused on positive mental health, with future events including more walks and open-water swims.
Lindsay Garvey Jones, vice-chair, said: “I am thrilled with the positive feedback we have had from across the travel industry on the back of our inaugural wellness walk along the Dorset Coast.
“Raising over £500 for Papyrus, which is such an amazing charity, exceeded our expectations and donations are still coming through.
“The walk itself was a fabulous opportunity to take a break from the norm and meet up with some old friends and an opportunity to make some new ones too, with ages ranging from 15 years to over 50 years.”
She added: “It has certainly had a positive impact on my mental health as I continue to recover from a recent case of Covid and the brain fog which accompanied the virus.
“I can’t wait for our next outdoor event in June where we will be taking a dip in Lake Coniston, one of the most beautiful lakes in the Lake District, to experience the positive impact of open-water swimming.”
