Barrhead Travel has opened its relocated store in Glasgow’s Silverburn Shopping Centre with a paperless window display.
The branch is located in a larger unit in the centre, where Barrhead has had a store for 15 years. Its relocation follows the opening of Barrhead’s flagship store in Glasgow’s Gordon Street in March.
The new-look branch, which falls in line with the retailer’s newest stores, has become the second Barrhead shop to boast a paperless window display as part of the group’s efforts to streamline sustainability efforts.
The shop has no traditional window cards or posters and instead uses large, digital screens with tailored content or deals in its displays. It follows a successful trial at Barrhead’s Gordon Street store.
The shop has a 13-strong team with more than 115 years’ combined experience in the industry and is managed by Fraser Hopkins.
The opening was attended by more than 100 customers, colleagues and travel partners, officiated by John Lovell, president of parent company Travel Leaders Group, a division of Internova Travel Group.
Barrhead Travel president Jacqueline Dobson stressed the importance of looking after the group’s existing high-street network.
She said: “Our commitment to growing on the high street doesn’t just extend to new locations. Part of that promise means nurturing our existing stores, and relocating and refurbishing to stay relevant, and ensuring footfall is optimised to maximise future growth opportunities.
“Silverburn has been our home for over 15 years, arriving shortly after the centre first opened its doors. It is a well-loved leisure destination for people all across central Scotland and our team have built strong relationships with their customers and the surrounding communities.
“Our new-look store is fresh and modern – and represents a new dynamic era for travel agents as we continue to welcome new-to-brand customers. I’m very proud of the team here in Silverburn who are looking forward to a busy summer of supporting customers with holiday plans.”
