Bookings open for new Sandals resort in Jamaica

Bookings are now open for a new Sandals property in Jamaica.

The 250-room Sandals Dunn’s River in Ocho Rios is scheduled to open to the public on May 24, 2023, after the completion of a top-to-bottom renovation designed to “embrace the essence of Jamaica”.

The resort was originally part of the Sandals family, but has been operating as Jewel Dunn’s River Beach Resort & Spa in recent years.

It has now been returned to Sandals and given the same title as when it was originally added to the portfolio in 1991.

Sandal Dunn’s River will feature 12 restaurants, with cuisines including Jamaican, French, Greek, Thai and American. There will also be nine bars, each with a “distinct identity”, which include Dunn’s Rum Club serving authentic Jamaican cocktails; a beach bar with bed-style seating and champagne cocktails called Laughing Waters and rooftop bar Ocarina.

Five pools are located across the resort, in addition to private pools for guests who opt for a butler service suite, which also feature sun-lounging areas and ocean views.

A seven-night all-inclusive stay in a Traveltine Luxury Room costs from £2,765 based on two people sharing. The price includes return economy class flights with Virgin Atlantic from Heathrow, transfers to the resort, and access to land and water sports.

Adam Stewart, executive chairman of Sandals Resorts International, said the resort was chosen for its “white-sand coastline, cool breeze, azure water and its close proximity to the destination’s archetypical falls.”

He continued: “It will not only serve to breathe new excitement into a corner of Jamaica loved and cherished by so many, but it will set a new standard of luxury for tourism right here in our backyard with a next generation resort worthy of its nostalgic past.”
