Brilliant Travel reports record trading for year to date

Brilliant Travel has reported record trading levels for the year to date for its homeworkers and managed services branches.

The travel agency group, part of Barrhead Travel Group, made the announcement at its first annual Spring Conference since the Covid pandemic.

The conference, held at Glasgow’s Grand Central Hotel and themed Embracing Change, Diversity and Opportunity in Travel, was attended by 40 of the group’s homeworking and Managed Service Travel Partner (MSTP) members.

Barrhead president Jacqueline Dobson said the homeworkers had enjoyed booking growth of 35% so far this year compared with last year while MSTPs’ bookings were up 45%.

Cruises were hailed as a key area of sales growth for this year for the group, with bookings growth of up to 271% on 2019.

During the event, members took part in speed dating with 30 suppliers at the event followed by an evening trip to Glasgow’s Golf Fang for indoor mini golf and socialising.

The conference also included business sessions on sustainability, product and training, as well as a guest session on diversity, equality and inclusion presented by Virgin Voyages’ Luke Day.

Director Linda Pyle said: “Our business owners have had a storming start to the year and it felt like the perfect time to take stock, celebrate one another’s achievements and look ahead to the rest of the year.

“There is so much opportunity in travel at the moment and we wanted to design a conference that inspired our members to think outside the box and consider what opportunities would fit with their business.

“We also wanted to provide some insights on key industry topics such as sustainability and diversity, equality and inclusion in travel which were well received as members commit to ensuring their businesses are making positive impacts in the communities at home and abroad.”

Pyle added that Brilliant Travel was currently recruiting for new members.
