The Chilean government will simplify the country’s Covid entry rules to make it “more competitive as a tourist destination”.
Currently, to enter bars, restaurants, gyms and other public venues, travellers must show a Mobility Pass which can only be accessed if they are fully vaccinated.
But from September 1 vaccinated arrivals will no longer need to use the pass, as the Chilean government has announced proof of vaccination will have the “equivalent function”.

Additionally, fully-jabbed travellers will no longer need to take a PCR test or complete a form before entering the country.
Unvaccinated travellers – who are not currently permitted to enter the country – will be able to visit if they show proof of a negative PCR test result carried out within 48 hours prior to departure.
The undersecretary of tourism Verónica Kunze welcomed the news, and said it will “make Chile more competitive as a tourist destination in the international arena”.
Minister for health María Begoña Yarza said: “From September 1, non-residents who enter the country will need proof of vaccination issued in the country where they have been vaccinated, in addition to identity documentation.
“Visitors without up-to-date vaccinations will have to do so with a negative PCR issued within a maximum of 48 hours. This will guarantee safety on the flight and in the country.”
