Elvis and Santa join Newmarket team for Hays Travel ‘takeover’

Elvis and Santa joined account and partnership managers from Newmarket Holidays for the operator’s ‘takeover’ day at Hays Travel’s headquarters in Sunderland.

The escorted tours specialist worked with Hays’ commercial team at Hays to create a day of training and activities – and to thank teams for their support and building awareness of Newmarket Holidays’ expanding product range.

An Elvis impersonator was in the building to perform The King’s greatest hits – a nod to Newmarket’s popular US itineraries.

The next visitor was Santa, bringing gifts to promote the brand’s festive programmes in Lapland.

The 350-strong Hays Travel team then had an Indian lunch, highlighting Newmarket’s India group tours.

The focus then switched to Italy, one of the operator’s most popular destinations, with activities and prizes featuring the brand’s Italian programme.

David Sharman, Newmarket Holidays’ chief commercial officer, thanked the Hays Travel team for their welcome, adding: “It is a big commitment to facilitate a day of training across their business and we are so grateful for the opportunity.

“It was a brilliant day where we were able to thank people personally for all their support and build on their knowledge of Newmarket Holidays.

“Travel is all about people, and people buy from people, and this was a unique opportunity to cement that relationship between our companies.

“The mix of fun, celebration and training was in keeping with how we both like to conduct business and made the day a huge success.”

Account manager Sas Rowbotham, who project-managed the event, added: “We were thrilled with the opportunity to showcase our business and celebrate success.

“I just loved seeing everyone dancing and singing with Elvis at 8am in the morning!”
