Rail holiday specialist Ffestiniog Travel has launched three escorted tours showcasing the heritage and landscape of its home country of Wales.
Founded in 1974, Ffestiniog Travel is based in north Wales, on the edge of Snowdonia National Park, and offers holidays by train across the UK, Europe and worldwide.
Maria Cook, general manager, said: “We wanted to showcase our Wales and combine our rail expertise, connections and knowledge to really show travellers and tourists what Wales can offer.”
The Wales – Steam, Castles & Slate itinerary features Chester; the castles of Criccieth, Penrhyn, Caernarfon and Conwy; excursions to the National Slate Museum, Great Orme Bronze Age and Llechwedd slate mines; journeys on six heritage steam railways; and cruises on the River Dee and Llangollen Canal.
The 10-day tour costs from £1,990 and includes nine nights’ hotel accommodation with breakfast.
Wales: From North to South features trips on heritage railways; visits to Powis, Caerphilly and Cardiff castles; and excursions to sites such as the National Slate Museum and Big Pit National Coal Museum. The 13-day tour costs from £2,185.
The Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways – Behind the Scenes holiday offers workshop tours, a steam-hauled private charter, insights from staff and volunteers and a history tour of Caernarfon. The five-day tour costs from £840.
