Flash Pack creates alcohol-free trips for Dry January

Solo adventure travel company Flash Pack has created a range of alcohol-free trips to tie in with ‘Dry January’.

The operator, which specialises in travel for people in their 30s and 40s, has designed ‘wellness-focused’ itineraries in Iceland, Puerto Rico and Bali, with sobriety coach Bob Marier leading the latter.

Flash Pack co-founder and chief marketing officer Lee Thompson said: “Our adventures have always had a friendly, open and inclusive atmosphere for like-minded travellers to bond, but these new trips offer a hyper-focused community for travellers who are sober or sober curious.”

Flash Pack, which last year revealed plans to start selling through the trade, has found that 60% of its customers consider themselves either light or non-drinkers.

The new trips have been designed to cater for the “growing trend of mindful consumption”, the operator said.

Bali & the Gilis with Bob Marier, priced from £3,040, includes a purification ritual and private meditation session in a centuries-old temple, dinner in an isolated rice paddy field and flying yoga in a private riverside studio. Travellers will also learn how to create Jamu, a traditional Indonesian herbal drink believed to have healing properties.

The other trips in the range – Unknown Iceland and Tropical Puerto Rico – are both five-day trips priced from £3,200 and £2,155 respectively.

Marier said: “Choosing sobriety has not only opened up a new world to me but also transformed how I experience travel.

“I used to see places like Rome from the confines of a bar, missing out on the true beauty and culture around me. Now, I wake up early, explore and immerse myself in every moment at every destination.

“It’s incredible how much more there is to experience when you’re fully present and embracing every opportunity to explore.”

Thompson added: “The sober movement has grown dramatically alongside the solo travel boom, and both expand perspectives on what it means to be happy and fulfilled.”

The trips have opened for booking ahead of Sober September, Flash Pack said.
