Obituary: Tributes paid to Atcore Technology’s John Fish

Colleagues of Atcore Technology’s product director, John Fish, have paid tribute to him following his death last month at the age of 50.

A statement from the company said: “It is with profound sorrow that we mourn the untimely loss of John Fish.

“Possessing a gentle charm and warm personality, John was an individual who was liked and respected by all who had the pleasure of meeting him.

“A dedicated professional and a family man, he never hesitated to lend a hand to those in need.

“His unwavering kindness and generosity of spirit earned him the reputation of being a true gentleman.”

He began his travel career at the Lunn Poly travel agency chain and later moved into IT, helping to shape technology systems in the sector.

He played a key role in scoping and specifying various travel systems for tour operators he worked for, such as Airtours, MyTravel and Center Parcs.

In 2005, he joined Atcore and spearheaded the implementation of numerous projects and systems.

His work contributed significantly to well-known Atcore customers such as First Choice, Finnair, TUI UK and Central Europe, Sunwing and easyJet Holidays.

“His profound knowledge and experience in travel technology, systems, and processes made him an invaluable asset,” said Atcore.

“Among his many notable achievements, John played a pivotal role in implementing a reservation and distribution platform for the relaunch of easyJet Holidays.

“As product director, he was continuously driven to shape the future of the systems he worked on to better serve the needs of customers.

“His relentless pursuit of excellence and innovation will forever be remembered.”

Dave Cruickshank, chief executive, led the tributes from his colleagues, saying: “We were greatly shocked and saddened by the passing of John.

“He truly was one of the good guys and we will miss him dearly.

“John was a very popular and hugely respected within Atcore and with our customers. Our thoughts are with John’s family and friends at this very difficult time.”
