Pittsburgh unveils agent training programme

Agents can win a place on a fam trip to Pittsburgh if they complete a new trade training programme.

VisitPittsburgh and Pittsburgh International Airport have launched their first training programme for UK and Ireland, to help the trade sell holidays to the destination.

Agents can complete three modules, each of which contains six lessons and a short quiz. Those who successfully complete the programme will receive a certificate and be named a ‘Pittsburgh Pro’.

The programme launch comes ahead of the return of direct flights from Heathrow to Pittsburgh from June 3.

To celebrate the launch, agents who complete their first module by May 10 will be entered into a prize draw to win one of five places on a VisitPittsburgh group fam trip, departing on the first direct British Airways flight on June 3.

The fam trip will include a visit to the Andy Warhol Museum and a food tour.

Jerad Bachar, chief executive of VisitPittsburgh, said: “We’re thrilled to be launching our first ever travel agent training programme at such a critical time.

“The UK and Ireland market is hugely important to us and the return of the British Airways direct flight from London Heathrow only serves to showcase Pittsburgh as an accessible, attractive destination for travellers.

“Pittsburgh is a city that had it all and we’re excited for our Pittsburgh Pros to learn about what makes our city so special.”
