Royal Caribbean cuts steel on second Icon-class ship

Royal Caribbean International has held the steel-cutting ceremony for its second Icon-class ship.

The first piece of steel for the vessel, which is yet to be named, was cut at Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland.

Royal Caribbean said the ceremony represents the official start of production and begins a series of “key moments” in design and construction.

The ship is scheduled to enter service in 2025 following the debut of Icon of the Seas in January 2024.

The line said the new ship, plus a future third Icon-class ship, will “introduce a new era of vacations for years to come”.
