Sandals’ Curacao resort now open for bookings

Sandals’ new resort on the Caribbean island of Curacao is now taking bookings as it reveals it will feature the brand’s first floating restaurant and bar.

The 351-room all-inclusive Sandals Royal Curacao is due to open on April 14, 2022. It is Sandals Resorts International’s 16th resort, and its first in Curacao.

A grand opening offer gives a 45% discount for bookings made by November 2, 2021.

The former Santa Barbara Beach & Golf Resort is situated on 44 acres of land on a 3,000 acre protected nature reserve.

The resort will boast Sandals’ first floating restaurant and bar, constructed from a 92-foot Dutch ship, and will also be home to the brand’s first Dos Awa infinity pool with views overlooking the sea and mountains.

In total the resort will offer nine five-star, gourmet restaurants on site, eight of which are new and exclusive to Sandals Royal Curacao. They include a wine and Dutch cheese bar.

There are also beachside food trucks offering traditional, local food, Spanish tapas and Asian fusion, and ten bars.

The resort’ 351 rooms and suites will be across 24 room categories. These include two new signature suite categories, the Awa Seaside Butler Bungalows and Kurason Island Poolside Butler Bungalows, with Tranquility Soaking Tubs, private pools, butler service, and convertible Mini Coopers for guests to use to drive around the island.

Sandals Royal Curacao will also offer three oceanfront wedding venues; a Red Lane Spa with six outdoor spa cabanas and treatment rooms; swimming pools; and access to the neighbouring 18-hole Pete Dye championship golf course; two on-site marinas and 70 dive sites; and 38,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space.

Sandals’ executive chairman Adam Stewart said the size of the private nature reserve surrounding the resort will allow holidaymakers to take picnic baskets and explore the area on foot or by bike.

He added: “We have invested an additional $72 million in enhancements and improvements to complete the ‘Sandalization’ process of this property and we can’t wait for our guests to be in awe.”

As well as the resort’s grand opening 45% discount offer, Sandals Select Rewards guests and members of its loyalty club will receive exclusive perks such as credit of 200 US dollars to spend on an Island Routes tour, in the spa or on a PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience, when booking six nights or more by August 5.

Karl Thompson, managing director, Unique Caribbean Holidays, Sandals and Beaches Resorts’ UK tour operator, said: “We are thrilled to make this resort available for bookings and to introduce Curacao to new audiences that we know will be captivated by its beauty, the warmth of its people and the destination’s irrepressible energy.  We are certain our partners will love selling this hotel.”

Last month Sandals announced it had started work on the first phase of a multimillion-dollar project to open three new resorts in Jamaica.
