SeaDream Yacht Club has adapted the technology on SeaDream II to use shore power connectivity, hailing a “significant milestone” in sustainable cruising.
SeaDream I will be upgraded during a yard stay in April 2024.
Shore power technology enables docked cruise ships to connect directly to a specially fitted land-based source, allowing them to switch off their engines and operate on electricity sourced from the local electrical grid, reducing emissions and noise while at port.

The line said the upgrades will make it the “first luxury cruise line to retrofit its entire fleet with shore power connectivity”.
