Tui considers hosting conference to engage with agents

Tui is considering ways to raise its profile and engage with independent travel agents which could include hosting a trade conference or sponsoring more events.

Tui chief marketing officer Neil Swanson told a Travel Weekly webcast the operator could look at running its own conference for third-party agents or attending more events following its bid to increase trade sales.

He said it was “a given” that Tui would now be looking at what would work best in terms of engaging with independent agents as part of its strategy to widen distribution.

He said: “You will see us getting involved in all sorts of different ways that maybe we haven’t done in the past.

“And we’re looking at lots more around educational tools; how we can do a conference and things like that, so we can really engage and give the support the trade wants.

“It’s all about talking together and understanding what people want, and then it’s up to us to deliver it. And it’s obviously got to work for both parties.”
