UK Rail Breaks appoints BDM to target trade

UK Rail Breaks has recruited Amanda Leggett to the newly created role of business development manager to build up trade sales.

Based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, the company offers independent rail breaks in England, Scotland and Wales.

Owner of the rail break specialist David Glover said: “We have recently signed commercial agreements with most of the high street and homeworking travel agencies in the UK.

“I have brought in Amanda to help me build our relationships and raise awareness of our product offering with these companies.”

Leggett has experience with getabed – which merged with fellow accommodation-only specialist roomsXML in 2018 to form Stuba – and Great Rail Journeys.

Glover met her at a conference when she worked for getabed.

He commented: “The thing that struck me was her passion for the product she was selling and the enthusiasm that she had. Amanda is the perfect fit for UK Rail Breaks and her vast knowledge and connections within the industry will hopefully help make UK Rail Breaks the first choice for agents when booking city or theatre breaks by rail.”

He said the company is expecting “really strong demand” for UK rail breaks after the pandemic, initially from Brits and then an “influx” of overseas visitors when foreign travel opens up more widely.
