AE Expeditions and Explore Worldwide are inviting agents to participate in a series of clean up activities this month.
The three events support the annual ‘Clean up for Sarah’ initiative, named in honour of polar guide, expedition leader, Antarctic base leader and environmental agent Sarah Auffret who died in an aircraft crash in 2019.
She had led the expedition cruise industry’s efforts to combat marine plastic pollution.
Clean-ups now take place annually worldwide between June 11-19, also coinciding with her birthday on June 16.
They will take place in the UK at the following locations:
- June 11: Chester – The Wales Coastal Path
- June 12: Woking – Pyford Lock
- June 14: Norfolk – Winterton Beach
The clean-ups start at 10am and equipment will be provided. Participants can join for as long as they wish.
AE Expeditions and Explore are encouraging agents unable to attend to participate in their local areas and share their clean-up photos.
AE Expeditions’ EMEA sales director EMEA Andrew Turner said: “We’re very proud to participate in this initiative to honour Sarah’s incredible work and advocacy for protecting the world’s marine environments.
“These clean-ups remove thousands of kilograms of rubbish from local environments every year, and we look forward to spending the morning with our agent partners contributing to our local communities in a meaningful way.”
Agents can register their attendance here.
