Carnival Cruise Line returns to Dover for first time in almost a decade

Carnival Cruise Line has returned to run ex-UK sailings from Dover for the first time in almost a decade.

Carnival Pride’s inaugural departure marks the start of a summer season, running nine cruises from the port.

The line last sailed from Dover in 2013.

The 2,680-passemger ship set off on Friday on a nine-day itinerary to the Norwegian fjords.

Carnival Pride is scheduled for eight more departures from Dover this summer, ranching from nine to 12-day cruises itineraries including round Britain sailings.

Carnival Pride is also operating in the Mediterranean this summer from Civitavecchia, the port for Rome.

Port of Dover head of cruise Sonia Limbrick said: “We are immensely proud to be welcoming Carnival Cruise Line back to Dover and honoured to be part of Carnival’s 50th birthday celebration with the kick-off of nine fantastic turnaround calls.”
