A ship transferred from Costa Cruises to US sister brand Carnival Cruise Line set sail for the first time with new livery.
Carnival Luminosa departed dry dock in Palermo, Italy, on Monday, heading to Dubai where the ship’s crew will join.
The vessel will then reposition to Australia ahead of entering service from Brisbane on November 6.
Carnival Luminosa, now registered with the Bahamas Maritime Authority, will operate cruises throughout the southern hemisphere summer until April 13, 2023.
The ship will then reposition to Seattle to run seasonal Alaska itineraries from next May.
Captain Adriano Binacchi said: “We’ve been anticipating the day where we could see Carnival Luminosa sail the open seas with our new hull design and updated funnel, and it’s even more special than we imagined.
“Now, she’s on her way to what truly makes a Carnival cruise vacation special – getting our crew on board.
“With Luminosa’s uniqueness and our team members who make everyone feel at home, this ship is truly going to deliver a new level of fun that our guests have not experienced before.”
