Carnival UK maritime and sustainability chief Donnacha O’Driscoll has been recognised with the highest medal of honour in the sector.
He is one of 11 recipients honoured by the government with Merchant Navy Medals.
O’Driscoll, executive vice president at the parent company of P&O Cruises and Cunard, was rewarded for services to seafarer welfare and cruise sector pandemic recovery.
Merchant Navy Medals have been awarded since 2016 for significant contributions to the maritime industry.
Seafarers are nominated each year by their colleagues, friends and family for the medals – the highest medal of honour within the maritime sector.
Maritime minister Baroness Vere said: “Their achievements are a testament to the exceptional talent and commitment present within our maritime sector.”
