Cunard coronation cruise from £199 arranged after transatlantic sailings cancelled

A five-night cruise by Queen Mary 2 with prices from under £200 has been slotted in after two transatlantic sailings by the Cunard flagship were cancelled due to a technical issue.

The British Isles ‘coronation celebration’ sailing departs on May 2 from Southampton, where the ship has been undergoing repairs.

Bookings open at 1pm today (Thursday) and are available until midday on May 1 for the one-off domestic voyage which calls into Liverpool.

The coronation will be screened live on board on May 6 followed by more events, including a dinner inspired by King Charles’ favourite ingredients and a party to commemorate the occasion.

Fares start at £199 per person for an inside Britannia cabin, rising to £249pp for ocean-view accommodation and upwards to £599pp for a top Grills suite.

Activities on board will include entertainment, talks by experts including historian and royal commentator Caroline Aston, a gala evening andCunard’s signature afternoon tea.

Cunard acting senior vice president Angus Struthers said: “We wanted to provide an opportunity for our guests to enjoy an unforgettable, very special and unique celebration of the coronation.

“What better way to mark this momentous occasion than being on board our majestic flagship Queen.

“We also hope that some guests who were impacted by our disruption last week will be able to join us on board.”
