Explore returns to Tunisia this weekend after gap since 2015

Explore will operate its first small group trip to Tunisia on Saturday since 2015 as demand picks up.

The 10-day Best of Tunisia trip for 13 people is one of a number of new itineraries introduced to the norther African country for 2024 and was the fast-selling, according to the small group operator.

The circular highlights tour starts in Tunis and includes Tozeur, a night in a cave hotel, and Hammamet.

There are eight other Best of Tunisia departures this year and a further 13 planned for 2025. Price start at £1,639 per person.

Tunisia was taken off sale in 2015 due to security concerns following the Sousse terrorist attacks that summer.

The operator had hoped to reintroduce Tunisia earlier but plans were delayed due to the pandemic.

Africa product manager Antony Barton said: “Tunisia is a destination that we’ve been asked a lot about in the last couple of years, and the demand is absolutely there.

“We’ve almost filled the nine departures we put on for 2024 in its first year back on sale, with 13 departures already starting to sell well for 2025.

“We’re really proud of this new trip, which is a fantastic introduction to this wonderful and diverse country – visitors will be treated to a winning combination of fascinating sites and history, vast and beautiful landscapes and a warm and welcoming culture and hospitality – all with really excellent local cuisine.”
