Great Rail Journeys adds UK capacity as travel restrictions are lifted

Great Rail Journeys has added new departure dates to its most popular domestic trips.

Capacity added to departures between July and October departures across Great Rail Journeys and sister brand Rail Discoveries.

They include tours in the Scottish Highlands, Wales and between the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales.

Prices lead in at £449 per person for a five-day Lakes and Dales by steam trip from Carlisle including four nights hotel accommodation and six meals.

The escorted tours operator has attained VisitBritain’s ‘We’re Good to Go’ accreditation, ensuring holidays adhere to all Covid related industry standards.

A small groups offer has been introduced as standard, with all 2021 UK and European escorted tours having no more than 25 people per group.

Its travel insurance has been updated to give additional Covid cover at no extra cost.

People booking by May 31 can transfer their holiday free of charge should plans change.

Chief executive Peter Liney said: “Our joy is taking people on holiday and after a year of so much uncertainty across the travel industry, we’re delighted to be able to welcome our customers back on tour and would like to wish them all a brilliant, long-awaited holiday here in the UK.

“We’re lucky to have such a fantastic team, including our expert tour managers making sure each holiday is special.

“Alongside recent ‘Good to Go’ accreditation from VisitBritain and the introduction of our industry leading small group tours, our team will always ensure customers feel confident they are in a safe pair of hands when travelling with us.

“In the coming weeks, we look forward to receiving more detail from the government regarding plans for international travel and hope that customers will be able to enjoy their long-awaited holidays in Europe and across the world once again, as restrictions continue to ease.”
