Hurtigruten steps up Norwegian coast capacity ahead of Northern Lights season

Hurtigruten is raising passenger capacity on board its seven ships running Norwegian coastal voyages as the Northern Lights season starts.

The shore excursion programme will also gradually return to normal.

The move comes comes in the wake of the Norwegian government removing most Covid-19 restrictions in the country.

Hurtigruten Norway chief executive Hedda Felin said: “We are very excited to now have the opportunity to give even more guests the unique experience to sail the Norwegian Coast, and let our guests enjoy the wonders of the northern lights under more normal circumstances.

“Safety always comes first, and we keep many of our health and safety in place. At the same time, we can now welcome more guests on board and can restart even more of our excursions.

“This is very good news for our guests, local communities, local suppliers and the travel industry along the Norwegian coast.”
