NH Hotel Group properties in Spain and Portugal are to be supplied with renewable energy until December 2023.
The aim is to cut its CO2 emissions by more than 14,000 tonnes a year through the use of “clean” electricity.
A supply deal has been struck with renewable energy firm Acciona Energy to provide more than 100GWh/year of renewable electricity to cover the energy needs of the hotel chain in the Iberian peninsula.
The contract establishes Acciona as strategic partner for the decarbonisation of NH Hotel Group.
The initiative is part of a fight against climate change as part of a commitment to reduce the hotel company’s carbon emissions by 20% throughout its value chain until 2030.
The electricity supply to NH properties now comes from renewable energy sources in Austria, Spain, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Luxembourg and Portugal.
