Seabourn expedition ships meet for first time in Antarctica

Seabourn’s two expedition ships have sailed side by side for the first time prior to starting sailings in Antarctica.

The purpose-built vessels met at the entrance to the Neko Harbour to mark Seabourn Pursuit’s maiden season in the region while Seabourn Venture is beginning its second season.

Both ships will operate 11- to 13-day cruises to Antarctica, as well as 21-day itineraries to South Georgia, Falkland Islands, and Antarctica.

Launched in 2022 and 2023, respectively, both Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit run expedition activities led by an 24-strong team of world-renowned scientists, scholars and naturalists.

Jeroen Schuchmann, captain of Seabourn Venture, said: “Seeing our two ships sail side by side at the start of our Antarctica season solidifies the fact that we are able to introduce so many more individuals to breathtaking, remote destinations that few will ever visit.”

President Natalya Leahy said: “It was amazing to wake up this morning and join our guests and team virtually at this historical moment for our brand. We had a dream to bring Seabourn signature luxury to the world of exploration.

“Watching our two-purpose built ultra-luxury expedition ships, Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit, next to each other today, and watching our guests raising champagne to each other with a breathtaking backdrop of Neko Harbor made me so proud. We truly brought this dream to life and redefined expedition experiences.”
