Second Emerald Cruises super yacht completes sea trials

Emerald Cruises’ second custom-built luxury yacht is set to enter service next month after successfully completing sea trials.

Emerald Sakara was certified for passenger operations after the tests from its shipyard in Vietnam.

The vessel is now relocating to the Mediterranean ahead of kits maiden eight-day sailing on August 5 from Athens to the port for Rome.

Emerald Sakara is the second 100-passenger ocean-going yacht to join the Emerald Cruises fleet following the introduction of Emerald Azzurra in March 2022.

The ship will run a summer season sailing the coastal waters of Italy, Greece, Turkey and the Adriatic before repositioning to the Caribbean alongside its identical sister vessel for the winter.

Emerald Sakara is due to be christened on December 2 in San Juan, Puerto Rico by godmother, Clia president and chief executive Kelly Craighead.

Glen Moroney, founder and chairman of parent company Scenic Group, said: “We are extremely pleased with how well our newest 100-guest luxury yacht, Emerald Sakara, performed in her sea trials – she exceeded our expectations in every way.

“We’re thrilled be able to share our newest gem in less than a month’s time and look forward to offering our guests wonderful experiences in the Caribbean and Central America this fall and winter.”
