Accessibility guides to 200 hotels featured by Tui UK & Ireland have gone live with a further 200 to be surveyed next year.
The feature appears on the operator’s website following collaboration with accessibility specialist AccessAble.
AccessAble has worked with more than 1,000 disability groups to ensure the detailed access guides can be used by anyone, whatever their needs may be.
TUI UK & Ireland customer experience director Sue Bradley said: “TUI takes over six million UK holidaymakers away each year and accessible holiday bookings have grown by 56% since 2022.
“We want to make travel easy and enjoyable for all our customers, but we know when it comes to planning, it can be a stressful experience for some.
“This can be especially true for those with access needs, who rely on the hotel’s accessibility details being available before booking.
“Earlier this year we partnered with AccessAble and tasked them with the job of running accessibility surveys at 200 of our most popular hotels.
“Everyone’s access needs are unique to them and at TUI we know that hotel accessibility goes beyond ramps and lifts. It’s about capturing all those essential details so customers can make an informed decision when choosing the hotel that’s right for them.”
AccessAble founder and executive chair, Dr Gregory Burke, added: “Detailed, accurate accessibility information is crucial to enabling disabled people to travel with confidence.
“In our extensive engagement with disabled people, it has been very clear that hotels and resorts top the list of the most requested places for us to cover.
“Our partnership with Tui is creating real change in the way that disabled people can be in control about how we go on holiday.
“More broadly, there is a huge need for this type of information. In the last year alone over six million people have used AccessAble to access vital accessibility information.”
