The first new build ship for Viva Cruises has entered service following a christening in Dusseldorf.
Viva One has capacity for 176 passengers and is being deployed on the Rhine and Moselle rivers this year and 2023 one five and seven-night itineraries from the city.
It is the first ship in the German company’s fleet of eight river vessels to use hybrid technology supported by 68 solar cells on the sun deck and the use sulphur-free GtL (Gas to Liquid) fuel to cut CO2emissions.
An improved autopilot function simplifies navigation while also helping to reduce fuel consumption.
Chief operating officer Andrea Kruse said: “After lots of hard work and a couple of uncertain years, we are thrilled to have launched our first ever new build ship.
Viva One has been carefully designed using Viva Cruises’ ethos and environmentally friendly technology to bring unique moments and exclusive experiences to our guests – without forgetting our all-Inclusive product.
“We are truly looking forward to welcoming British people on our new ship – they will have a whole new river cruise experience like never before.”
