Abta supports members to ‘entice’ talent into travel

Abta has pledged to support its members overcome the “challenging recruitment environment” caused by rising demand for travel after the sector workforce shrank during the pandemic.

The association’s chief executive, Mark Tanzer, said in a blog that a free webinar is planned for next month, and highlighted the free advice available through the Abta Partner scheme.

His blog comes after Travel Weekly reported firms calling for a joint industry effort to address the staff shortage crisis.

Tanzer said: “The pandemic led to a downsizing of the industry’s workforce, with talented travel professionals moving to other sectors.

“The travel industry now has the task of enticing people back and attracting new talent to fill roles and help support the industry’s recovery.”

Called Careers, Recruitment and Future of Talent in Travel, the free webinar for members will take place on March 15.

As well as offering free advice, the Abta Partners have provided new material with recruitment tips, covering topics such as attracting talent and apprenticeships.
