Your Co-op Travel to recruit more than 30 retail staff

Your Co-op Travel has begun a recruitment drive for more than 30 staff across its branches.

The 76-branch retail arm of The Midcounties Co-operative’s travel group reported January was its busiest month of trading since the start of the pandemic, with average weekly sales more than 300% up on the previous month and 110% up on November 2021.

November, when pre-departure tests were initially scrapped in October prior to being reintroduced in December, was previously the most buoyant trading period.

The agency group is to hold a series of recruitment events across the West Midlands to bolster staffing levels in its branches, which stretch from Nottinghamshire down to Somerset, and at its Walsall head office.

The next event will be at the Walsall branch of Your Co-op Travel in Crown Wharf Shopping Park on February 10 from 5.30pm to 8.30pm.

The group is also taking part in the Wolverhampton Jobs Fair on March 16 at Molineux Stadium from 10am until 1pm and the Birmingham Careers Fair on April 8 at Jury’s Inn, Broad Street, from 10am to 2pm.

Head of branches Natalie Turner said the group was seeking travel consultants, travel assistant managers and trainee travel consultants.

She said: “The recruitment events are an opportunity for passionate people who have worked for a travel company, or have their own travel business and are looking for a new challenge, to drop in for a chat about our current vacancies, how to apply and to go over the interview process and the benefits that come with being part of a co-operative society.

“The knowledge and expertise of a talented travel advisor is more in demand now than ever. There has never been a better time to join us.”

She added: “We also have roles for trainee travel consultants who are looking to get started in the industry.”
