Clia UK & Ireland unveils 2022 conference plans

Clia UK and Ireland has unveiled a new programme of trade events designed to help agents boost enquiries and bookings.

The events include the Clia Conference 2022 in Southampton and the RiverView Conference 2022 in Budapest, Hungary, from March 20-22.

They were announced at Clia’s Selling Cruise Day in Southampton on Thursday (November 4).

Agents will be able to experience ships first hand at both conferences next year.

Delegates at the RiverView Conference can spend two nights on river vessels. There will be nine ships from different brands

Business sessions, networking opportunities and two dinners have been scheduled during the conference.

The trade association will host a series of virtual events from November 22 to 26, including brand updates, expert panel discussions and a session on the Danube ahead of RiverView Conference.

Next year, Clia plans to run trips focused on the luxury, expedition and river sectors. A “limited number” of agents can develop knowledge and “unique selling points of these sectors”, Clia said.

A new-to yacht and sail cruising guide will also be published next year. It will include top sales tips, an explanation of how onboard experiences differ from traditional ocean cruising, and recommendations.

The guide will include destination advice and mini profiles of the different sail and yacht ships.

Managing director Andy Harmer said: “As the positive cruise momentum continues, we’re keeping pace by offering a range of event options for the trade that we’re confident will be engaging, informative and fun.

“From in-person conferences to residentials to virtual activities, we’ve listened carefully to feedback from across the industry, so we can provide the most beneficial and immersive experiences possible.

“We’re looking forward to offering the tools and know-how that will equip the trade for a rewarding and buoyant cruise market.”
