Global agents to produce second marketing guide for the trade

Two travel agents are working together to produce a second marketing planner to help fellow independent retailers maximise sales post-Covid.

Mia Walmsley, owner of Footprint Travel, and Kate Holroyd, owner of Strawberry Holidays, said the success of Beyond The Bookings: 2021 Marketing Success Planner, had spurred them to do another for 2022.

Last year’s planner sold 500 copies, with a portion of the proceeds going to mental health charity Mind. It included dates of national events and festivals, cruise sailings, hotel launches and key industry dates globally to help agents with their marketing and social media efforts.

Walmsley, who has a background in marketing prior to setting up Footprint Travel, said: “This year we want to make it bigger and better; we want as many dates as possible to make it one place for agents to refer to. It might include important things to tell clients. We want to make it as comprehensive as possible and improve it – and make it more portable!”

She added: “We want to encourage agents to plan and develop a brand presence online as opposed to just posting offers on social media.”

The pair, both Global agents, said they were motivated to produce the guide and work together out of their own passion for marketing. They have also set up a closed group on Facebook for agents to ask questions and advice on marketing and enable agents to help each other by sharing ideas.

The planner is likely to be available this summer and some of the sale proceeds will again go to charity.
