HAL names final winners of month-long competition

Holland America Line (HAL) has named the final set of winners from the fourth week of its 150th anniversary competition.

The Carnival Corporation brand has given away prizes to agents each week during the wave peak bookings period in January.

Sales and marketing director Karen Farndell told a Travel Weekly webcast that Meriel Lowe, from Wexus Travel; Barbara Thompson, from Cruise1st; Jennifer Donovan, from Gold Medal; travel counsellor Clare Hyatt; and Samuel Bender, from Cruise118, were among the 23 winners.

Lowe won a hosted Holland America Line team night out for up to six people; Thompson scooped tickets for the BBC Earth show in London next month; Donovan bagged a luxury spa day for two; Hyatt won a place on a European cruise fam trip with HAL;  Bender will join a VIP luxury ship visit this year.

Farndell said: “The plan now is to get out and about over the next few weeks as much as we can to deliver some of these fabulous prizes in person and meet you.

“We’ve loved doing this incentive and we’re already planning the next one to keep the excitement going.”

Farndell also noted how the line’s ship visit programme would be announced in the next couple of weeks.

“We want to get as many of our partners on board as we can,” she added. “Although we don’t have cruises that sail from the UK, we want to get as many people on board for the day at least so they can see how great our ships are.”

In April, the line has planned a series of events to mark its 150th anniversary. “We will get as many people involved as we can to share that excitement,” Farndell added.

The other competition winners included Barrhead Travel’s Adla Toal who won 150th anniversary branded gin; Aimee Quinn from Riviera Travel who bagged branded goodies; and Anne Fisk who scooped a place on a VIP luxury ship visit.
