Miles Morgan to continue hiring agents without previous experience

Miles Morgan Travel has pledged to continue to take on agents without previous experience after one of its new recruits became a top-seller and another bagged an £80,000 booking.

Among its current 20 ‘Rising Stars’ are staff who joined from clothes stores and hotels, and the business’s headcount is now above that of 2019.

“Since March, we’ve taken on people who are not from the travel sector and we’ll continue to do that,” said managing director Mandy Shillito.

“We keep an eye out for talent because we want to grow.”

Natalie King, one of the new recruits, is now one of the group’s 15 top-performing agents. “I’d never sold a holiday before but I love talking about travel. It has been very natural,” said King, who most recently managed a hotel gym but has also worked for P&O Cruises.

Ellie Thomas, who joined in May 2022, recently took a booking for £79,800. It took more than a month to complete and was the highest-value booking by a Rising Star. The booking is for 12 people to Walt Disney World Resort Florida for five nights in July 2023, plus a seven-night cruise and three-night trip to Universal Studios.

Thomas previously worked for Monmouthshire County Council.
