Travel Counsellors holds social media training on Virgin Voyages trip

Travel Counsellors homeworkers took five bookings for Virgin Voyages while taking part in a social media training course on Valiant Lady.

A total of 14 agents went on the seven-night cruise across the Mediterranean, attending workshops and gaining tips from experts.

More than 100 pieces of content were uploaded during a tour of the ship, helping the group to secure five bookings.

First-time cruise guest Louise Murray hailed a “great opportunity”, adding: “The social media training was brilliant, and I came away feeling like I had learnt so much and I am looking forward to implementing the knowledge in order to grow my business.”

Agents secured a place on the trip by sending in a video explaining why they wanted to take part. A further four “social media experts” from the business were invited to share their knowledge and support some of the workshops.

The sessions offered advice on how to gather strong content, as well as giving social media tips and helping agents to become more comfortable on their social media channels.

Kirsten Hughes, Travel Counsellors’ UK managing director and chief commercial officer, said: “The idea came about as we continue to see and harness the power of inspirational, personalised content across our brand platforms and in helping our Travel Counsellors to reach audiences and build their business via their own social media channels.

“We also want to ensure we are working with our valued supplier partners in the most creative and innovative ways when we collaborate and are given opportunities to sample amazing products such as Virgin Voyages, enabling us to really showcase the experience on a wider scale.

“We were blown away by some of the creativity of the videos. Our community has such a strong sense of peer-to-peer learning, and this trip was no different, with travel counsellors sharing their own expertise and tips with one another too.

“This approach to content is again reflective of our highly personalised customer proposition and supports our recent brand refresh based around the trusted, caring and knowledgeable service our business owners provide to their customers each day.”
