Eddington gets warm welcome from board
THE GUILD of Business Travel Agents has welcomed the appointment of Rod Eddington as BA chief executive as hopes grew of an amicable settlement with the carrier. The GBTA met with Eddington and BA chairman Sir Colin Marshall last week and described talks as productive.
In a thinly veiled attack on Eddington’s predecessor Bob Ayling, executive committee member Tony Hughes said: “It was a refreshing change. There have been issues at BA that needed solving. The commitment was in a different league at the meeting we had last week and Rod Eddington indicated he wants to be involved in talks on a regular basis.”
According to GBTA chairman Don Lunn, BA has also pledged not to start the new remuneration scheme until a workable procedure is settled.
