Rochdale move forecast as Going Places plans relocation
GOING Places is expected to confirm rumours it will relocate its head office from Woking to the north, with Rochdale the most likely destination.Managing director Terry Fisher has reduced staff numbers to 350 after a period of cost cutting and is now considering new premises.
“We have said for a long time that the six offices in Woking are not conducive to running a good business and we are looking at opportunities for a single site,” he said.
“But no decision has yet been made and we do not want to unsettle staff.”
Meanwhile, Going Places has decided not to renew the leases on two shops in undisclosed locations but Fisher said it did not have a plan for widespread shutdowns.
“We review leases all the time and that is good business practice,” he said.
“But we do not have a plan to radically reduce our number of shops from 730.
“We have also signed up to continue with 15 leases which had run out.”
