Goodman plans to float TVTravel Shop on stock exchange

TVTRAVEL Shop deputy chairman Harry Goodman is planning a return to the stock exchange nearly 10 years after the collapse of his tour operation ILG.

Goodman, who co-founded the TV Travel Channel, the UK’s fifth biggest retailer with sales of £72m in the year to September 1999, aims to float the company in the next 12 months but emphasised he will not go to the City unless the market is right. “We are not doing this to raise finance, but to provide value for shareholders,” Goodman said.

He denied the collapse of ILGin 1991 could make it difficult to gain stock market support for the flotation.

“We have spoken to banks and financial institutions and they have indicated there will not be a problem.”

Goodman has appointed former Barclays Private Equity managing director Stephen Welton as executive chairman to oversee the flotation and expand the company overseas.
