n on-line itinerary planner from naj


North American Journeys has produced an on-line itinerary service for tour operators and retailers. It includes a database of 150 itineraries covering 250 cities, shopping attractions, hotels and a calendar of events throughout the US. The site is at visitNAJ.com.


n political conventions scheduled


Thousands of political followers will be descending on Philadelphia and Los Angeles in early August, when the Republicans and Democrats hold their respective conventions. The eastern city hosts the Republicans from July 29-August 4, and the West Coast venue takes on the Democrats from August 14-17.


n las vegas sees rise in visitors


Las Vegas enjoyed a 10.5% rise in visitors last year to 33.8m visitors. The latest complex to open is called Aladdin Gaming, with 2,600 hotel rooms, a 100,000sq ft casino and a 500,000sq ft shopping and dining area.


n washington monument set to reopen


The Washington Monument in the US capital is expected to reopen in time for the July 4 Independence celebrations after a two-year $9.4m restoration project.


n historic hotels adds members


The National Trust group of Historic Hotels of America has taken on five member properties. They are the Cliff House Inn, Manitou Springs, Colorado; Casa Monica Hotel, St Augustine, Florida; The Georgian Terrace, Atlanta; The Lennox in Boston; and the Seaview Marriott Resort in Absecon, New Jersey. The portfolio now has 150 hotels in 41 states.
