Watts rejects destinex.com for current position at Eurostar
ADRIAN Watts has reversed his decision to join e-commerce start-up destinex.com following recent turmoil in the Internet world.Watts, who was due to join the new company as vice-president business travel, will remain in his present post of executive director sales and distribution at Eurostar.
He said he experienced second thoughts about leaving a job he loved while working out his notice at Eurostar.
“This factor, plus the recent changes in the technology market, made me change my mind,” he said.
However, Watts added that he was sure that destinex.com would be a success.
He also stressed that the parting with former Going Places chairman Tony Bennett, who is heading up the destinex.com operation, had been amicable.
He admitted the dot com world had gone through a rough patch over the past three months.
However he was confident destinex.com would be a success when it launches in the first quarter of 2001.
Bennett said the company was working on a number of advanced features for the site, one of which would be the facility to book a combination of different travel products.
He added that destinex.com had not decided whether to replace Watts directly or whether to restructure his role.
