Davies tipped for travelchest role
FORMER Airtours director Roger Davies is expected to join new Internet company travelchest.com as chairman within a fortnight.Davies is believed to have talked to several Internet companies before deciding on travelchest.com, which is backed by Thomson.
Travelchest.com founder Nigel Carpenter said:”We’ve had discussions with Roger but do not have anything to announce as yet.”
Travelchest.com was launched last week and contains product from 130 tour operators.
It offers access to more than 100 on-line travel brochures and allows customers to create personal travel chests in which to store information and itineraries. Bookings will be taken over the telephone by travel consultants.
Lois Wood and John Warner, who both previously worked at Trailfinders, have joined as head of product development and sales manager respectively. They will work with former head of worldwide sales at British Airways Holidays Stephen Rhodes, who has joined as commercial director (Travel Weekly June 12).
