Speech ‘full of rhetoric’
BRITISH Midland chief operating officer James Hogan was accused of wasting delegates’ time with a conference address that was full of corporate rhetoric. After a 30min speech on the first morning of the Las Vegas conference, Virgin.com managing director Ian Brooks openly attacked Hogan for using the session to promote his company.
“You were talking about customer choice and Ithink you mentioned the customer once during the speech,” he said. “It was full of corporate rhetoric and frankly abused my time.”
Hogan reacted by defending his speech, insisting mention of British Midland was in fact central to his argument that the industry needs more competition.
